Social Post Drafts Style Guide
Before writing a social post draft, read 2-3 existing posts in this folder to absorb the voice and rhythm.
Rules
No em dashes. Ever. If you're tempted to use one, break it into two sentences instead.
Short sentences. If a sentence feels long, it probably is. Cut it.
Plenty of new lines. White space is your friend. Single-sentence paragraphs are encouraged.
No academic language. Words like "utilize," "facilitate," "paradigm," "leverage" are banned. Say it simply.
Vulnerable storytelling. Start with a personal moment. Share the doubt, the struggle, the real reaction. Don't hide behind abstraction.
Conversational tone. Write like you're texting a smart friend. Not like you're submitting a paper.
Start strong. First line should hook. No throat-clearing intros.
End clean. Land the plane. Don't over-explain or add unnecessary wrap-ups.
Anti-patterns
- Long blocky paragraphs
- Overly polished corporate-speak
- Abstract theorizing without grounding in story
- Sentences with multiple clauses joined by commas or semicolons
- Trying to sound smart instead of being clear
The Vibe
Think: honest reflection shared in a group chat.
Not: thought leadership content optimized for engagement.
