Episode 00009: You Walk By Faith, Not By Sight

December 12, 2025

Greeting

Welcome back to The Daily Spirit. Friday, December 12th, 2025. Five minutes of spirit-filled encouragement to start your day.

Opening Hook & Scripture

Have you ever taken a step without knowing where it would lead?

2 Corinthians 5:7: "We walk by faith, not by sight."

That's one of the hardest things God asks of us. Because we want to see. We want to know where we're going before we take the step. But that's not how faith works.

I got a beautiful reminder of this yesterday. Let me tell you what happened.

The Story

Earlier this year, I felt a pull to go deep into the future of education. I consulted for a now-famous school system in Austin. I wasn't sure why God pulled me in, but I trusted it.

Later, I felt called to go deeper in my faith. And to think deeply about what faith-based schools of the future might look like. Not knowing where it would lead or who could even fund what I would imagine.

And recently, I felt called to invest in a friendship with an amazing educator in San Antonio. Not knowing what the outcome would be.

Yesterday, a fellowship opportunity for launching a faith-based micro school in San Antonio surfaced—with a deadline in three days. She happens to work at a school on a church campus. The charter school renting that space might get kicked out.

The pieces are fitting together in ways I never could have planned.

I couldn't have orchestrated this. Only God could.

Biblical Examples

The Bible is full of people who walked this same faith walk.

Abraham left his homeland without knowing the destination. God just said "go" and Abraham went. Hebrews 11:8 says: "When he left he had no idea where he was going."

Ruth left everything to follow her mother-in-law to a foreign land. She had no idea she'd end up in the lineage of Jesus. She couldn't have planned that.

Moses spent forty years as a shepherd before God called him back to Egypt. He couldn't see it coming.

None of them saw the full picture. They just took the next step.

Exhortation

Here's what I want you to hear today.

You will never see the full picture in the moment. You can only connect the dots looking backward. But you have to trust that God is weaving something together right now. A plan you can't even imagine yet.

Whatever impulse you're feeling—that relationship you're supposed to invest in, that project you're supposed to start, that conversation you're supposed to have—follow it.

You might not see why yet. But you will.

Affirmations

Let's speak some truth over your faith walk. I'll say it, you repeat.

[Pause after each for repetition]

I walk by faith, not by sight.

I obey even when I don't understand.

God is connecting dots I cannot see.

I trust His plan over my own.

The path will be revealed one step at a time.

I faithfully follow His call.

Closing

That's it for today.

Take the step. Trust the process and remember that God is good and God is with you. I'll see you tomorrow.

Body:

Blessed morning!

Have you ever taken a step without knowing where it would lead? And then later—sometimes much later—you looked back and thought: oh. That's why.

Yesterday, God connected dots in my life that I never could have planned. Today's episode is about your faith walk. About trusting the path before you can see it.

"By an act of faith, Abraham said yes to God's call to travel to an unknown place that would become his home. When he left he had no idea where he was going." — Hebrews 11:8 (MSG)

Hit play. And remember that God is with you today.

Love, Gary
