Why I Am A True Believer In A 2000 Year Old 'Religion'
Because God keeps the promises he makes to each of his followers.
People get confused about why I believe in a 2000-year-old faith.
They are especially confused when I say I’m not just a cultural Christian who acknowledges the stabilizing value of religious rituals.
Here’s the reality: I'm a tech guy who believes in higher orders of reality. I believe in the spirit world. I put this understanding first and I'm not afraid to say it.
Most of my old friends think ancient religion equals low intelligence. They've been programmed to see faith as weakness. They're wrong.
I believe in God because he actually fulfills the promises he makes to each of us who choose to believe and walk with Him—promises of a flourishing life on this earth and eternal life after death.
Promises like…
- “I will keep you from falling from glory if you live up to my standards of virtue.” Modern culture encourages you to chase things that would ultimately destroy you. Following God's design for character gives you an unshakeable foundation in this life and prepares you for the afterlife. Plus, sexual discipline protects you from blackmail rings that control powerful people.
- “I will put the right life partner in your path when you're ready, not when you're desperate.” The secular dating scene—dominated by dating apps that turn you into an item on a meat market—is mostly a waste of time. Friends and mentors in the faith have tested both approaches. Staying righteous and trusting divine timing consistently works better than forcing courtship.
- “I will unlock opportunities that match your unique gifts when you can handle them.” God provides what you need for the next step, even when it doesn't look luxurious. I find dramatically more peace, energy, and clarity building relationship with Him than chasing secular success metrics.
- “I will bless you with money when you're ready to steward it well.” Those who prove faithful with little get trusted with much. The ability to handle wealth isn't something you're born with—you level up into it. Biblical principles about stewardship actually produce better financial outcomes than secular hustle culture.
Overall, I've given up on the secular worldview, which promises freedom but delivers suffering. Instead, I choose to believe in a Christian ontology that promises and delivers peace and flourishing.
Look, I know it's difficult to figure out what to do while we're here on earth. We're all just trying to make sense of this existence, wondering what choices will actually lead to a life worth living.
That's why I treat Christianity as exactly what the word BIBLE stands for: Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.
And ultimately, I choose to accept the cross of being misunderstood, and choose to devote my time to figuring out exactly what God wants me to do. This isn't a guilt-ridden, strenuous life. It's joyful. Peaceful. Love-filled.
When you align with these instructions, your life will flow forward in a way that you can barely imagine. Doors open. Relationships deepen. Purpose clarifies. Peace replaces anxiety.
God made the game. His promises hold true. Everything else is just fumbling in the dark.
